What are the uses of the new gases?

New gases like biomethane, hydrogen and synthetic methane can be injected into the natural gas grid under certain conditions.

They can therefore be used for the same purposes by private individuals or industry, with a lower environmental impact than natural gas. Biomethane can also be used as a fuel: BioNGV. Hydrogen too can be used for transport. When used in a fuel cell, it can create electricity in electric vehicles.
