Teréga supports gender equality in the business

Diversity and equality of opportunity are at the heart of Teréga’s values. The Group is determined to offer each person the same opportunities to develop and flourish within its structures and across its territories. In particular, Teréga encourages diversity in jobs which few women have occupied up to now, such as technical or technological jobs, or within the energy transition sector. This diverse seedbed of skills and talents is a precious resource that the Group is cultivating as it imagines the energy models of tomorrow.

Professional equality: practical actions

Teréga is working to achieve gender equality, particularly through increased vigilance on pay. During the latest pay review campaigns, Teréga was particularly careful to look at equality between male and female colleagues, and introduced corrective measures to reduce inequality of treatment.

So Teréga is committed to a drive for diversity at the heart of its jobs at all organisational levels of the Group, with the aim of increasing the number of women in managerial posts.

These actions, taken as a whole, have allowed an improvement in the Group’s professional equality index.

Feminising industrial and energy transition jobs

Although promoting parity in the workplace is possible, it is still sometimes difficult to implement this in certain sectors of activity that are historically male. Technical posts, in particular, still struggle to attract women. We still have few female operations technicians, even though it can be seen that Teréga has achieved an increase in the level of feminisation across industrial jobs for some years. Women, however, remain more numerous in support functions than in operations.

Offer visibility, to inspire new vocations

Teréga is rolling out an action plan aimed at stimulating more female vocations to technical and technological jobs: often poorly understood, they are the way ahead for the future, particularly in the energy transition sector, which is bursting with new activities linked to hydrogen, biomethane and CO² capture and storage. The Group has therefore introduced female sponsors and ambassadors to feminise those jobs. It is also stepping up the number of initiatives and events in partnership with the Elles Bougent (Women on the Move) association. Created in 2005, this organisation encourages young women, secondary, high school and university students to move into scientific, technical, technological and engineering sectors and careers. The programme includes: job dating, careers guidance, meetings Elles bougent pour le numérique (Women on the move for digital) or Elles bougent pour l’industrie (Women on the move for industry) etc

Promoting diversity will allow variety of profiles in our jobs over the coming years. Teréga can make that diversity more visible through site visits or technical workshops, from primary schools through to secondary studies. As a Sponsor, I find these exchanges allow me to adapt the way I speak, to make the technical sector more attractive to the younger generation.
